displaying the skewered
vision of a nonsensical
society in a fragmented
frame
The dress is a remnant
of a standard determined
long ago when a person
was supposed to know
to be quiet and kept
The dress is a covering
still used to avoid
detection, block
distraction and prevent
attraction
The dress is a personality
preening and prissy
twirling round and round
like a hula hoop on a
not-so-merry merry go
round
The dress is a mess
dirty and tattered
by a history of
justice, injustice
freedom and slavery
The dress is just
a piece of clothing
given more power
than a goddess
but considered
powerless nonetheless
