to make a choice
to stay or to go
Go--
to go,
to fly into the unknown
Stay--
to stay,
to sink back into being unknown
It is almost finished,
this burial--
years of dirt and doubt
heaped over dreams, suffocating hope,
sealed off, sealed down, sealed away
But there is still a crack,
the gap not quite closed
Stay--
stay in the dark,
exhale the dust
to become dust,
forget, cease, never be known,
never to have known
Go--
go to the light,
gasp the cold air
to pierce or be pierced,
be uncovered, be alone,
find all that can be known
One eye closed
one eye open
To shut the other
or to open both
In only a moment
