Growing up I had so many dreams for myself,
wanting my own place, good job
able to help my family when they needed help.
All the things that a daughter wants to do.
All I ever wanted was for my mom and dad to be proud of me.
Not having a lot growing up, I would dream of nice things.
Clothes, jewelry, shoes; we had what we needed.
But this didn’t happen.
I didn’t have my own place if you count living
in my parent’s basement.
I never knew if my parents were ever proud of me or not.
Through the years between two marriages and divorces, I had some nice things
that didn’t come from yard sales, thrift stores, or goodwill stores.
Now my bills barely get paid from month to month.
Sometimes I feel like, I don’t even exist to some people.
Like looking in a mirror with no reflection.
