Tightly nestled chirping hearts,
wrapped beneath her folded arms,
like birds immersed in feathered wings,
brooded in a nest.
Provided for, protected from
they grow before her eyes
until one day their little hearts 
go chirping somewhere far.

Dana Sterner is a Registered Nurse and Professional Writer. She started writing prose at an early age as a way to express her thoughts.
