An indigo silk scarf.
This morning, the years
Of mourning
Fall away, drift
Upon the breeze
Like the charred remains
Of a raging forest fire,
Snuffed out with time.
The landscape ravaged,
My body scarred
Yet fertile,
Awaiting fledgling shoots
Of new growth.
